Hydrob AquaBarrier

Fluorine-free water-repellent impregnation for all types of textiles

Characteristics

  • The fluorine-free HYDROB AquaBarrier impregnation is a modern treatment for making textile materials water-repellent and is completely free from PFAS (perfluoroalkyl substances), PFOS (perfluorooctane sulfonic acid and its salts) and PFOA (perfluorooctanoic acid and its salts)
  • Excellent waterproofing with a very effective beading effect against water and water-based dirt, as well as acids and alkalis
  • Limited resistance to alcoholic solutions
  • Promotes the loosening and removal of dirt
  • Particularly well suited for retrofitting and providing water and stain protection for outdoor clothing, sports and functional clothing, and work and protective clothing in industry, emergency services, gardening and road construction, etc.
  • HYDROB AquaBarrier gives impregnated textiles a pleasantly full-bodied feel
Suitable for all synthetic fibres and blended fabrics
  • Particularly low dosage thanks to a highly efficient formulation

Application

For impregnation and post-treatment, a recommended dosage of 16 g/kg of textiles (dry weight) is advised.
The dosage should always be adjusted to suit the specific conditions. Depending on the fabric, a higher or lower dosage may be required.

HYDROB AquaBarrier should be applied using the dip-and-roll method as the final rinse in a washer-extractor. HYDROB AquaBarrier should only be added once the liquid level has been reached and the drum has started to rotate. Finishing with HYDROB AquaBarrier is carried out in a single bath.

Before impregnation, the cleaned textiles must be thoroughly rinsed to remove all traces of detergent and alkali residues, as even small amounts of surfactants, residual dirt and detergents can impair the effectiveness of the treatment.

The impregnation is activated by drying in a tumble dryer in accordance with the care label at a minimum textile surface temperature of 60 °C (drum outlet). If the textile can be dried at a higher temperature, further improvement in the effect is possible.

Dip-and-roll method
⅔ machine load, liquor ratio 1 : 4, dosage 4 g AquaBarrier per litre of liquor, 30 °C,
5–7 min. Interval spinning: 1 min low speed, 1 min tumbling, 1 min low speed, 1 min tumbling, 3 min spinning at 60–70 % of maximum speed. Dry in accordance with the care label, 60 °C drum exit.
The effectiveness increases over time (e.g. overnight at room temperature).

Storage and dispatch

In closed containers, HYDROB AquaBarrier has a minimum shelf life of 12 months.
