General
Pre-brushing agents count as spotting agents and are used for removing general dirts. They are spotting agents that have been optimized for the appropriate solvent and are typically applied with a brush directly onto the dirty textile.
If the textile is treated with a brush prior to the basic cleaning, we speak of prespotting.
If spots are treated only after the basic cleaning, this kind of stain removal is called postspotting.
Important
For prespotting in dry cleaning, PRENETT A-B-C are the universal stain removers that can be applied independent of the solvents used. For prespotting in wet cleaning, the DEPRIT PROFESSIONAL products are to be used.
DEPRIT PROFESSIONAL has been designed exclusively for postspotting where 80-90% of all stains can be treated successfully with the products -1, -2 and -3. For special requirements beyond that, the products -4, -5 and -6 are effective problem solvers.

Application
For this purpose, the textile cleaner typically uses a brush to apply the appropriate PRENETT product with a patting movement onto the dirty areas, e.g. collars, sleeves or pocket flies. The tapping application of the pre-brushing agent onto the textile surface is a gentle method and avoids tissue shifts.
The pretreatment of extremely dirty areas prior to the basic cleaning in the machine dissolves stains so that they can be removed more easily.
Sometimes prespotting agents such as PRENETT MAX are diluted with water prior to the application. In this case, however, it should be noted that the dilution with water increases the risk of colour losses for sensitive colourings.
Occasionally, such aqueous dilutions are also sprayed onto extremely dirty areas. In this case, the spotting table must be equipped with a suction device to avoid the accidental inhalation of spray mist.
The preferred and safest application of spotting agents is the careful application with a spotting brush. A sensible application of the spraying technique is the use of a pure water spray mist with a spray nozzle and direct water connection. The spray nozzle delivers approx. 100 ml water per minute. This water mist is a method for the efficient removal of sweat marks in the axle or hollow of the knee area. The water mist is only superficial and helps to remove water-soluble dirt.
Spotting agents
Characteristics
Spotting agents from the PRENETT product range dissolve stains and can be rinsed out in the solvent without residues. For this purpose, PRENETT prespotting agents contain a well-balanced surfactant combination and are adjusted for little water to increase the process safety. Gentle surfactants remove dirt, protect the colours and are gentle on the wool and on other sensitive fibres.
To prevent confusion, the Kreussler colour code on the container or label for spotting agents of the PRENETT and DEPRIT Professional product range is identical.
- The red colour indicates an alkaline protein/blood dissolver.
- A green label indicates neutral makeup/fat remover.
- Blue indicates an acidic tannin dissolver.
The PRENETT ABC product range can be used in perc, hydrocarbon solvent, cyclosiloxane D5 and SYSTEMK4.
Application
Specific stains, e.g. protein or blood stains and tannin or makeup and fat stains, can be removed easily and effectively already upon sorting of the textiles and pocket search by using PRENETT A, B or C. For more information on the use of the products, please refer to the technical data sheets.
An underscore in the care symbol indicates gentle treatment. This kind of textile labelling is typically used for silk, flannel, angora or cashmere, microfibres, rayon and linen. Usually the manufacturer also indicates by this that the colouration has a limited wetfastness which also means particular caution during spotting. Reduced mechanical action and/or limited wetfastness are a particular challenge in the spotting trade.
In case of doubt, a seam test should be performed at a hidden spot for sensitive textiles. The procedural safety can be increased when the idle period of the pre-brushed textile before the basic cleaning is as short as possible.
When using tannin or blood dissolvers, the spotted area can be blown shortly with compressed air to reduce the risk of colour losses (bright areas) or local greying. If a pH-related change of colour occurs in colourations, the original colour can be restored by using the contrary PRENETT product.
