How Kreussler protects the protector: thorough, but gentle cleaning and reimpregnation of PPE textiles
Kreussler offers highly efficient all-round solutions for the washing and care of PPE and protective clothing, including helmets, gloves and breathing masks.
Special solution for sensitive reflector strips
One of the biggest challenges in washing PPE textiles is the fact that “normal” doesn’t work here: while oil based and pigment stains could be removed using detergents with high alkalinity, aggressive surfactants and high temperatures, the reflective stripes are far too sensitive to survive such treatment. German textile care specialist Kreussler developed DERVAL PROTECT to solve exactly that tricky issue: its perfectly balanced combination of specially adapted surfactants and equally special polymers allows the removal of very hydrophobic stains like mineral or silicone oils and pigments at the very low temperature of 40 – 60 °C, while its low alkalinity keeps the precious reflective stripes in excellent shape. The extremely concentrated DERVAL PROTECT also prevents the removed soil particles from redeposition on the fabric in the washer and builds up a protective layer, reducing future staining. In combination with its perfect partner DERVAL RENT, oil, fat and pigment stains on PPE don’t stand a chance, while the bright colours and the reflection materials are safely protected.
Safe protection against chemicals for the protectors
In the truest sense of the word, maintaining the chemical and flame protection function is vital. There is currently no alternative to the use of C6 fluorocarbon resins for the effective impregnation of certain types of protective clothing against chemicals and oils. Until further notice, Kreussler Textile Care will continue offering impregnation products for the treatment of firefighter protective clothing to protect not only against water but also against chemicals and oils. The physical protection of the wearers of protective clothing is extremely important to Kreussler as a manufacturer of corresponding products, and we are committed to that also as part of our overall social responsibility. The industry has succeeded in developing C6-FC resins that produce effects comparable to C8 chemistry; for example in HYDROB FC from Kreussler, which can be used to restore the impregnation of protective clothing. An addition after the washing process in combination with activation at certain drying temperatures gives the textile water, oil and dirt-repellent properties without damaging or clogging textile membranes. Like all Kreussler products, HYDROB FC is free from PFOA and PFOS. The copolymer used and all additives are legally compliant with the current provisions of EINECS (European Inventory of Existing Commercial Chemical Substances) and TSCA (Toxic Substances Control Act of the United States Environmental Protection Agency).
Don't forget helmets, gloves and breathing masks
Kreussler has also worked closely with renowned manufacturers to develop precisely customised washing processes for firefighter helmets and gloves, which ensure thorough, safe cleaning of these important pieces of equipment with the greatest possible care. Breathing masks can also be excellently treated with Kreussler solutions.
