Hygiene in hospitals – an enduring issue!
There are numerous regulations for the treatment of laundry from healthcare facilities. The care of hygiene laundry is a matter of trust and demands an intelligent concept of the detergent manufacturer that complies with the statutory requirements while ensuring the preservation of the textiles.
Hospital laundry means textiles coming from examining, treating and nursing people in hospitals as well as in nursing wards and infirmaries. These comprise not only surgical textiles, terry textiles, bed linen but also the work clothing of nurses, wiping cloths and wiping mops. This type of laundry is generally suspected as being infected and must be washed with disinfection.
Our procedures, even the low-temperature procedures, are listed in the RKI and VAH lists so that we guarantee reliable hygiene and combine them with simple process management, low consumption quantities and optimized procedure costs.
Products / Procedures
DERVAL POWER procedure
DERVAL POWER is a highly concentrated liquid product with the power of a powder detergent. Its excellent detergency even at low application quantities makes this pure detergent so effective and economic. Of course DERVAL POWER has been perfectly matched with the wash-power boosters DERVAL ENERGY and DERVAL BRIGHT so that its full effectiveness is ensured even at 60 °C.
In combination with OTTALIN PA CONC, the listing conditions of the disinfectant list of the Robert Koch Institute according to § 18 IfSG Type A (bacteria) and B (viruses) at 60 °C and a reaction time of 10 minutes are complied with. Dosage is 1.2 g/l DERVAL POWER in combination with 0.8 ml/l OTTALIN PA CONC.
The DERVAL POWER washing system using the ECOSAN 3.0 procedure is particularly advantageous due to its strengths: Savings of water, energy and packaging in combination with reliable and economic dosage of the liquid detergents.
TREBON SI procedure
For the chemothermal laundry disinfection with powder detergents, we recommend the RKI-listed procedure with the single-shot detergent TREBON SI and the peracetic acid OTTALIN PERACET. With a reaction time of no more than 10 minutes at 60 °C, this procedure meets the requirements for a listing in the disinfectant list of the Robert-Koch-Institute (RKI) according to §18 IfSG Type A (bacteria) and B (viruses) in washing machines. Dosage is 2 g/l TREBON SI in combination with 2 ml/l OTTALIN PERACET.
TREBON SI is a highly concentrated single-shot detergent that stands out due to its builder conception with layer silicates. TREBON SI is capable of simultaneously complexing water hardness and heavy metal ions, stabilizes the pH throughout a wide range of concentrations, and ensures washing alkalinity. The extremely compact structure of TREBON SI allows very low application quantities which ensures distinctly higher washing performance per kg of detergent.
DERVAL SOLO procedure
Also listed in the RKI list is the procedure with the liquid single-shot detergent DERVAL SOLO and the peracetic acid OTTALIN PERACET. With a reaction time of no more than 10 minutes at 60 °C, this procedure meets the requirements for a listing in the disinfectant list of the Robert-Koch-Institute (RKI) according to §18 IfSG Type A (bacteria) and B (viruses) in washing machines. The dosage is 2 ml/l DERVAL SOLO in combination with 2 ml/l OTTALIN PERACET.
Care and proofing of surgical laundry
Reusable surgical textiles (surgical gowns, surgical drapes) ensure safety for several application cycles; they are efficient and more environment-friendly than disposable textiles. The regulations of the medical device legislation and the various standards (EN 13795-1) define fixed requirements for surgical gowns and surgical drapes.
Therefore, the professional care of these textiles has high demands on the effectiveness of the applied washing and proofing agents, ideally balanced washing procedures and the competence of the application technology:
- Ensurance of a proper germ barrier (impermeability for viruses, bacteria, disinfectants, blood and other liquids).
- Purity (absence of microorganisms and organic residues).
- Absence of fluffs and other particles.
- Antistatic characteristics.
In addition to a chemothermal, RKI-listed washing procedure, a final proofing is mandatory for surgical textiles as it reestablishes the resistance against water, alcohol and oils.
With HYDROB OP, we have designed a proofing agent that is perfectly balanced for the needs of surgical microfibers. HYDROB OP fully restitutes the functionality of the materials made of microfibers, cotton and polyester/cotton blends.
